Call about a roof leak

This is a phone line. There are no forms to fill in; calling is the way to reach a roofer who works in your part of the mainland.

(409) 555-0128

Before you dial

Have these details handy

A short description is enough to start. The contractor will ask follow-up questions, but these details help the conversation along.

  • Your city: Texas City, League City, Dickinson, La Marque, Hitchcock or Santa Fe
  • Roof type: shingle, metal or a flat section
  • Where the water shows and in which rooms
  • Whether it leaks in every rain or only in storms
  • Whether water is near lights or outlets
  • Any insurance claim number for storm damage

Not sure where it starts?

Trace it first

If you have a minute, compare your stain with the leak tracer on the Mainland Roof Line home page. A round stain near a bathroom, a drip at an upstairs window and a wet porch ceiling usually come from three different places on the roof.

Storm just passed and there is an opening? The tarping page explains how to protect the inside of the house while you wait.

Not an emergency service

If a tree has hit the house, lines are down or the structure looks unsafe, leave and call 911.

After the call

While you wait for the inspection

Keep buckets under drips and empty them often, and turn off power to any wet light or fan at the breaker. Move furniture and rugs out of the way and take photos of each stain with the date. If the ceiling is bulging, keep people out of the room.

If the leak started with a storm, report it to your insurer and note the claim number before the visit, and keep receipts for anything you buy to protect the house, such as tarps, buckets or a rented dehumidifier.

When the roofer arrives, show them the stains inside first and the attic access, then let them inspect the roof. Ask them to explain the cause and give you the repair plan in writing before any work begins.
